2006.

full lengths:

ZOMBI - surface to air.
THE FLAMING LIPS - at war with the mystics.
MASTODON - blood mountain.
ROMAN NUMERALS - s/t.
BECK - the information.
THE ESOTERIC - subverter.
FIELD MUSIC - tones of town.
TV ON THE RADIO - return to cookie mountain.
SONIC YOUTH - rather ripped.

never heard enough of the new DJ SHADOW record to make an opinion. and i never got my hands new MELVINS and ISIS records. and i JUST got this new JOE LALLY solo record that came out last year. so it's quite possible that there are records that i would like more than ones listed above - i just haven't heard them.

the new releases by SLAYER, KILLING JOKE and VOIVOD were certainly respectable - just not exceptional.

2006 was a stellar year for EPs:

RETISONIC - levittown (go ASCETIC!).
SIRHAN SIRHAN - s/t.
JESU - silver.
ZOMBI - digitalis.
THE LIFE AND TIMES - the magician.

also was schooled several times (again) by DROPSONIC, ROMA 79 and SELF-EVIDENT.

2007 looks promising with inevitable releases from: RIDDLE OF STEEL, GRAVITY PROPULSION SYSTEM, ROMA 79, SELF-EVIDENT, DROPSONIC, THE FORMS, JESU. hopefully, i'll get schooled by things i haven't thought of yet.
