this might be an awkward situation in all honesty, but its combining three of the greatest bands ever (hum/failure/shiner) into a melting pot. i love talbots vocals but without tim lash backing him i dont think it would work. three piece wise, this is what i got for the rock and roll. the life and times is damn near the closest to perfect as a three piece ive heard, and i concur on the new material, its awesome, really powerful. i cant count out riddle of steel either though for its rock popness that is pretty damn unbeatable right about now.

yeah, this is kinda awkward. putting 3 badasses in a room together doesn't mean that there's going to be any chemistry or that they could even last one practice together - let alone, write a decent song. to me, the best trios are ones that already exist - because they actually found each other and formed and apparently had some sort of spark. the immediate ones that pop up to me are:
the jimi hendrix experience. zztop. rush. the police. cream. budgie. the minutemen. regulator watts/abilene. victim's family.
and if you want to nitpick, the following bands were really just awesome trios plus a frontman:
zeppelin. the who. van halen. bad brains.
ah, jeez...
